BPH – BENIGN PROSTATIC HYPERPLASIA (Enlarged Prostate)
If you’re a man over the age of fifty and you wake up several times during the night to urinate or have a slow, hesitant stream, be assured that you are not alone. In fact, one in two men over fifty suffer from an enlarged prostate—or benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). The condition can negatively impact your overall quality of life. BPH can be embarrassing, uncomfortable, and inconvenient.
If you are experiencing any one of the following symptoms, you may be suffering from a common condition called benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), or enlarged prostate. Common symptoms associated with BPH include:
Transurethral needle ablation of the prostate (TUNA), delivers low level radio frequency (RF) energy to the prostate, relieving obstruction without causing damage to the urethra. A small probe is inserted through the urethra and into the prostate. Two small electrodes are deployed into the prostate and a low level of radio frequency energy is applied. The energy heats the prostate tissue and shrinks it, relieving the obstruction while protecting the urethra and surrounding areas. To learn more about the TUNA procedure click here.
